Most Current Executive Directors Report Executive Directors Public Report for December 2011 Visiting Veterinarians: Dr. Brenda Smith visited the Molokai Humane Society on December 10, 2011 to perform spays and neuters because Dr. Morgan had a hand injury. She is interested in coming monthly to assist in our animal management program. Surgical Space: The second container is on island and will be delivered to MoHS on Wednesday January 18, 2012. Thank you to Matt for setting the support blocks. Makoa Trucking is giving us a discounted rate for the delivery of the container. Once container is in place we will work to get electricity and water hooked up as soon as possible. Dr. Morgan is working on a wish list of supplies for the second container. New Fundraising Opportunity: Our Facebook donate link is up and running and has generated $300 in donations. Our page continues to be active, although I would like to get more community involvement. If you have Facebook, please invite your friends to the page so that we can use this as an effective way to communicate MoHS and animal related happenings. Grants: I have been working on a variety of grants, both for programming and board development. Special: For the month of December we offered the first 25 cats to be spayed/neutered for free with the remaining cat s/n only costing $10. We performed surgeries on 38 cats. This special was funded by a private donor. Land Options: Carol and I continue to research a variety of options for MoHS’s forever home. The search is ongoing. Clinic: We spayed and neutered 38 cats and 11 dogs, performed 62 exams, gave 73 dog vaccines and 37 cat vaccines. We sold 7 tick collars, 105 flea pills, 8 cat flea preventatives and 44 heartworm pills. We are in the process of adjusting clinic hours to meet the need of the community. We are considering a variety of options, one of which is to be open for appointments in the morning and not afternoons. Credit Card: We are in the process of expanding our payment options to accept credit cards/debit cards. We will be using the Square card reader that will automatically deposit the funds into our bank account. ED Training: I will be off island on January 25, 2012 to attend a Maui Animal Welfare Coalition meeting on Maui. This will be a great opportunity to network with Maui County animal welfare leaders. |
